Graphitized Carbon Fibers as Multifunctional 3D Current Collectors for High Areal Capacity Li Anodes
Advances in Materials, 2017The Li metal anode has long been considered as one of the most ideal anodes due to its high energy density. However, safety concerns, low efficiency, and huge volume change are severe hurdles to the practical application of Li metal anodes, especially in

Lyocell fibers as the precursor of carbon fibers
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003AbstractIn this work, Lyocell fibers, used as carbon fiber precursors, were investigated. Lyocell fibers used for the carbon precursors and the carbon fibers themselves were produced in our laboratory. The mechanical properties morphology and structure of the precursors and the obtained carbon fibers were studied and compared to those of rayon.

Coating of Carbon Fibers—The Strength of the Fibers
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1995The 6k carbon fiber Torayca T800H was coated with pyrolytic carbon by a CVD process. Fiber bundles were tested and evaluated. By this procedure, the whole distribution of the failure probability with respect to the fiber strength is obtained in a single experiment.

Tension of carbonization for carbon fiber
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1994AbstractThe mechanical properties of carbon fiber, especially tensile modulus, are closely related to the orientation of crystals. Hence, the stretching of carbon fiber during carbonization is of importance. In this study, the tension arm between the carbonization furnaces was used to stretch carbon fiber.

AbstractWe briefly review some methods recently proposed to make films and fibers of preferentially oriented carbon nanotubes. We discuss in more detail a simple spinning process which consists in dispersing the nanotubes in a surfactant solution, re-condensing the nanotubes in the flow of a coagulating polymer solution to form a nanotube mesh, and ...

Graphene quantum dots derived from carbon fibers.
Nano letters (Print), 2012Graphene quantum dots (GQDs), which are edge-bound nanometer-size graphene pieces, have fascinating optical and electronic properties. These have been synthesized either by nanolithography or from starting materials such as graphene oxide (GO) by the ...
