Carbon fibre-reinforced, alkali-activated slag mortars
The paper describes the effect of carbon fibre on alkaliactivated slag mortar (AAS) mechanical strength, volume stability and reinforcing steel corrosion, compared to its effect on the same properties in Portland cement (PC) properties.

Tensile failure of fibre-metal-laminates made of titanium and carbon-fibre/epoxy laminates
The tensile properties of the lightweight titanium-based carbon-fibre/epoxy laminates (TI-CF FMLs) were investigated under quasi-static loading. A comprehensive experimental study was conducted for eleven different types of the TI-CF FMLs (considering ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Eco-efficiency assessment and benchmarking of recycled carbon fibre
Carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP) are very important structural materials due to their mechanical properties, light weight, and versatility. This has led to an increase in both CFRP demand and production.

Experiments and crushing mechanism analysis of hybrid square metal tubes with filament wound CFRP
Hybrid tubular members consisting of a metal tube externally reinforced with carbon fibre have been shown to be efficient energy absorbers. Several studies have used filament winding techniques to fabricate hybrid tubes, principally with circular cross ...

Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Hybrid effects in biobased benzoxazine vitrimer composites reinforced with flax and carbon fibres
Fibre-reinforced vitrimers are an emerging class of recyclable composites, but the influence of fibre type and stacking sequence on performance remains underexplored.

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.
