Simulating the Carbon Footprint of Galactic Halos
We compare simulations, including the Illustris simulations, to observations of CIV and CII absorption at z=2-4. These are the CIV column density distribution function in the column density range $10^{12} - 10^{15}$ cm$^{-2}$, the CIV equivalent width ...

Motivation crowding in real consumption decisions: Who is messing with my groceries? [PDF]
We present evidence of crowding out of intrinsic motivation in real purchasing decisions from a field experiment in a large supermarket chain. We compare three instruments, a label, a subsidy and a neutral price change, in their ability to induce ...

Dicarboxylate‐modified anionic hairy cellulose nanocrystals exhibit a high selectivity for dysprosium(III) over neodymium(III). This selectivity arises from disordered dicarboxylate cellulose “hairs” that enable cooperative ionic coordination, hydrogen bonding, and strain‐induced conformational shrinkage.

Hydropower's Biogenic Carbon Footprint
Global warming is accelerating and the world urgently needs a shift to clean and renewable energy. Hydropower is currently the largest renewable source of electricity, but its contribution to climate change mitigation is not yet fully understood. Hydroelectric reservoirs are a source of biogenic greenhouse gases and in individual cases can reach the ...

This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...

Carbon Footprint of Electric Vehicles—Review of Methodologies and Determinants
The carbon footprint of a product and organization is one of the most important environmental indicators in many sectors, including transport. Consequently, electric vehicles (EV) are being introduced as an alternative to achieve decarbonization targets.

Ferroelectric memcapacitors enable non‐volatile, voltage‐programmable capacitance tuning for adaptive electronics. A TiN/HfZrO/TiN device stack demonstrates more than eight stable capacitance states within a 24 pF memory window in compact 60 ×$\times$ 60 μm2$\umu{\rm m}^{2}$ devices at low operating voltages.
