Conventional and zero liquid discharge treatment plants for textile wastewater through the lens of carbon footprint analysis

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2021
Effluent treatment plants act as the last line of defense against the discharge of pollutants from industrial effluents. The higher resource consumption, variety of dyes, and auxiliary chemicals used for textile manufacturing classify it as a highly ...

Developing a carbon footprint calculator for construction buildings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Carbon footprint is commonly defined as the total amount of greenhouse gases produced directly or indirectly as a result of an activity. The term carbon footprint has become the standard for measuring the environmental impact of activities in several ...

The $^{13}$Carbon footprint of B[e] supergiants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report on the first detection of $^{13}$C enhancement in two B[e] supergiants in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Stellar evolution models predict the surface abundance in $^{13}$C to strongly increase during main-sequence and post-main sequence evolution ...

Challenges of carbon emission reduction by the workshop education pattern

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many conferences and educational events to shift from in-person to online, significantly reducing the carbon footprint associated with these activities.

Applying consumer responsibility principle in evaluating environmental load of carbon emissions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There is a need for a proper indicator in order to assess the environmental impact of international trade, therefore using the carbon footprint as an indicator can be relevant and useful.

Introduction and early measurement of carbon footprint concepts to respond the challenge of SDGs-Goal 13

open access: yesJournal of Community Service and Empowerment, 2020
One of the efforts to prevent the effects of climate change was the introduction of the concept of carbon footprints from an early age to students. Science subjects in this school have included elements of environmental knowledge in their subject matter.

Carbon Footprint of Tonsillectomy

open access: yesThe Surgeon
Introduction Healthcare is responsible for 5.4% of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. Emissions in surgery is a relatively unexplored area; in particular, this hasn’t yet been looked at as a whole in ENT in the UK. Aims Quantify the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission from a tonsillectomy and assess the proportion of each source’s contribution ...

Harnessing the unconscious mind of the consumer: How implicit attitudes predict pre-conscious visual attention to carbon footprint information on products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Consumers clearly have a role to play in the global fight against climate change, since even relatively small changes in patterns of household consumption could significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
