Labile and stable fractions of soil organic matter under management systems and native cerrado Frações lábeis e estáveis da matéria orgânica do solo sob sistemas de manejo e cerrado nativo

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2010
Soil organic matter can be analyzed on the basis of the different fractions. Changes in the levels of organic matter, caused by land use, can be better understood by alterations in the different compartments.

Photosynthetic Fractionation of the Stable Isotopes of Oxygen and Carbon [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1993
Isotope discrimination during photosynthetic exchange of O2 and CO2 was measured using enzyme, thylakoid, and whole cell preparations. Evolved oxygen from isolated spinach thylakoids was isotopically identical (within analytical error) to its source water.

Frações lábeis da matéria orgânica em sistema de cultivo com palha de braquiária e sorgo Labile fractions of organic matter in cropping system with straw of brachiaria and sorghum

Fractional flux periodicity in doped carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2004
An anomalous magnetic flux periodicity of the ground state is predicted in two-dimensional cylindrical surface composed of square and honeycomb lattice. The ground state and persistent currents exhibit an approximate fractional period of the flux quantum for a specific Fermi energy.

Improving the Economic Efficiency of Heat Pump Integration into Distillation Columns of Process Plants Applying Different Pressures of Evaporators and Condensers

open access: yesEnergies
The electrification of process industries is one of the main challenges when building a low-carbon society since they consume huge amounts of fossil fuels, generating different emissions. Heat pumps are some of the key players in the industrial sector of

Carbon isotopic fractionation in heterotrophic microbial metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1985
Differences in the natural-abundance carbon stable isotopic compositions between products from aerobic cultures of Escherichia coli K-12 were measured. Respired CO2 was 3.4% depleted in 13C relative to the glucose used as the carbon source, whereas the acetate was 12.3% enriched in 13C. The acetate 13C enrichment was solely in the carboxyl group.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Fractionation of the Stable Isotopes of Inorganic Carbon by Seagrasses [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1980
The delta(13)C values for seagrasses collected along the Texas Gulf Coast range from -10.9 to -11.4 per thousand. These values are similar to the delta(13)C values of terrestrial C(4) plants, but seagrasses lack bundle sheath cells which are important in determining the delta(13)C values of C(4) plants.
