The log mean divisia index based carbon productivity in the Australian construction industry

open access: yesConstruction Economics and Building, 2017
Environmental protection and economic growth are two indicators of sustainable global development. This study aims to investigate the performance of environmental protection and economic growth by measuring carbon productivity in the construction field ...

Structures of mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase reveal carrier‐domain translocation between catalytic sites

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase uses a mobile biotin‐carrying domain to shuttle a carboxyl group between two catalytic sites, enabling carboxylation of 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA during leucine breakdown. Cryo‐electron microscopy captures the carrier at both sites and reveals an inward loop movement that may prevent futile rebinding to the ...

Operational Carbon Emission Assessment of Buildings: Development and Application of an Electricity Equivalent-Based Calculation Model for Energy-Related Carbon Emissions

open access: yesBuildings
Operational carbon emissions of buildings account for more than 25% of global carbon emissions and, generally, over 50% of the total carbon emissions across the whole life cycle of a building.

The Allocation of Carbon Intensity Reduction Target by 2030 among Cities in China

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The regional allocation of carbon emission quotas is of great significance to realize the carbon emission target. Basing on the combination of the multi-index method and the improved equal-proportion distribution method, and fully considering the ...

Determinants of Carbon Emission and Rebound Effect in Asean Countries: Kaya and LMDI Decomposition

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship, 2022
All ASEAN countries have achieved extraordinarily high growth rates in their history of economic development. They relied on new energy efficiency technologies to reduce their energy intensity while avoiding the rebound effect. Academics debate told that

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

Spatiotemporal heterogeneity of carbon emission intensity distribution in the tourism industry and its calculation methods

open access: yesSustainable Energy Research
To accurately measure the carbon emission intensity of tourism, a comprehensive measurement method is proposed in this study. This method combines statistical data and standard deviation ellipse analysis, which can reflect the actual situation of carbon ...
