All‐Aqueous Pullulan Fibers Enabling Visible‐to‐Near‐Infrared Waveguiding with Mechanical and Thermal Resilience

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Pullulan, a biomass‐derived polysaccharide, is transformed into transparent optical fibers using a solvent‐free borax hydrogel‐spinning method. The fibers outperform PMMA with ≈200 MPa tensile strength and 200 °C stability, while uniquely guiding visible‐to‐NIR light and enabling additive‐free humidity sensing.

Modulating Interfacial Potential Gradients in Metal−Carbon Catalysts via Phase‐Engineering for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is elucidated that phase engineering of cobalt modulates the interfacial potential gradients of cobalt–carbon electrocatalysts, enhancing the intrinsic electrocatalytic performance. Modulating the dominant crystalline phase of cobalt from a hexagonal close‐packed to a face‐centered cubic enriches the electron density of carbon shells, thereby ...

Addressing leakage in the EU ETS : Border adjustment or output-based allocation ?. [PDF]

open access: yes
The EU ETS has been criticised for threatening the competitiveness of European industry and generating carbon leakage, i.e., increasing foreign greenhouse gas emissions. Two main options have been put forward to tackle these concerns : border adjustments

An Ultrafast Self‐Gelling Versatile Hydrogel for Rapid Infected Burn Wound Repair in Military Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐gelling PG@PAC (POD/Gel‐CDH@PA/CHX) powder is developed for infected burn care in austere settings. Upon contact with wound exudate, it instantly forms an adhesive hydrogel, providing simultaneous hemostasis, broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity, reactive oxygen species scavenging, and immunomodulation. In a murine model of S.

Life cycle emissions of diverse fossil-based hydrogen production pathways for transportation application

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Hydrogen potentially plays a key role in the transportation sector while transitioning to a net-zero emissions economy. Low-carbon hydrogen produced from fossil resources is often viewed as a bridge in the energy transition.

Dual‐Interface‐Dominant Cathode Architectures Enabling Fast Sulfur Redox and Stable Interfaces in All‐Solid‐State Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An optimized carbon host nanostructure enables a dual‐interface‐dominant architecture in sulfur cathodes of solid‐state Li‐S batteries by selectively forming sulfur|carbon and sulfur|solid electrolyte interfaces. This tailored interfacial configuration accelerates sulfur redox kinetics by establishing enriched Li+/e– transport networks, while ...
