Electrowetting on Arrayed Carbon Nanofibers [PDF]

open access: possible2006 Sixth IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology, 2006
Electrowetting on arrayed carbon nanofibers has been demonstrated. The testing structure consists of Si/carbon nanofibers/dielectric/fluoropolymer/liquid. Nanofibers were patterned on 5×5 μm pitch which resulted in superhydrophobic behavior for water (θ>150°).

Large-Scale and Selective Synthesis of Carbon Nanofiber Bundles, Curved Carbon Nanofibers and Helical Carbon Nanofibers

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2015
Through the pyrolysis of acetylene at 250 °C, large quantities of carbon nanofiber bundles (CNFBs), curved carbon nanofibers (CCNFs) and helical carbon nanofibers (HCNFs) can be synthesized selectively by controlling the Fe:Cu molar ratio of Fe-Cu nanoparticles.

Recent advances in electrospun one-dimensional carbon nanofiber structures/heterostructures as anode materials for sodium ion batteries

, 2020
As promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems, sodium ion batteries (SIBs) are limited by their relatively lower energy density. This shortcoming necessitates the design of anodes with high specific capacity and excellent cycling ...

Continuous Carbon Nanofibers For Nanofiber Composites

MRS Proceedings, 2001
ABSTRACTContinuous carbon nanofibers were manufactured using electrospinning technique. The as-spun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers were stabilized and carbonized to convert them into carbon nanofibers. The diameters of typical carbon nanofibers were in the range from 100 -500 nanometers.

Templating Synthesis of Metal-Organic Framework Nanofiber Aerogels and Their Derived Hollow Porous Carbon Nanofibers for Energy Storage and Conversion.

Small, 2021
A kind of metal-organic framework (MOF) aerogels are synthesized by the self-assembly of uniform and monodisperse MOF nanofibers. Such MOF nanofiber aerogels as carbon precursors can effectively avoid the aggregation of nanofibers during calcination ...

Electrochemical performances of electrospun carbon nanofibers, interconnected carbon nanofibers, and carbon-manganese oxide composite nanofibers

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2019
Abstract This paper reported the comparison of electrochemical properties of carbon nanofibers (CNFs), interconnected carbon nanofibers (ICNFs), and carbon-manganese oxide composite nanofibers (C/MnOx) fabricated by a conventional and a core-shell electrospinning technique, respectively, with the combination of heat treatment and CO2- activation ...

Carbon Nanofibers: Synthesis and Applications

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2014
As a novel functional material, carbon nanofiber has many interesting applications in the chemical industry, material science, and energy storage fields. Chemical vapor dispersion and carbonization polymer nanofibers are the two important routes to synthesize carbon nanofibers.

Ultrafine Titanium Nitride Sheath Decorated Carbon Nanofiber Network Enabling Stable Lithium Metal Anodes

Advanced Functional Materials, 2019
Nonuniform local electric field and few nucleation sites on the reactive interface tend to cause detrimental lithium (Li) dendrites, which incur severe safety hazards and hamper the practical application of Li metal anodes in batteries.

Formation of carbon nanofibers

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1992
Recently 3-1 50-nm-diameter carbon fibers have been discovered which appear to grow spontaneously by deposition from carbon vapor. It is proposed that these structures may be giant fullerenes which have grown by direct insertion into the graphitic network of smaller carbon species (atoms, ‘linear” chains, monocyclic rings, or even smaller fullerenes ...
