Stabilization and Carbonization of PAN Nanofiber Mats Electrospun on Metal Substrates

open access: yesC, 2021
Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber mats are typical precursors for carbon nanofibers. They can be fixed or even elongated during stabilization and subsequent carbonization to gain straight, mechanically robust carbon nanofibers.

Optical properties of carbon nanofiber photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Carbon nanofibers (CNF) are used as components of planar photonic crystals. Square and rectangular lattices and random patterns of vertically aligned CNF were fabricated and their properties studied using ellipsometry.

Electromechanically Tunable Carbon Nanofiber Photonic Crystal [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2013
We demonstrate an electrically tunable 2D photonic crystal array constructed from vertically aligned carbon nanofibers. The nanofibers are actuated by applying a voltage between adjacent carbon nanofiber pairs grown directly on metal electrodes, thus dynamically changing the form factor of the photonic crystal lattice.

Manganese Oxide Loaded Carbon Fiber for Solar Energy Harvesting and Oil Decomposition

open access: yesC, 2023
In this work, a manganese oxide electrode, containing carbon nanofiber composites (MnO2/CNF), has been made through electrospinning, oxidization, and partial carbonization high-temperature treatment. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe

Drop impact upon micro- and nanostructured superhydrophobic surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We experimentally investigate drop impact dynamics onto different superhydrophobic surfaces, consisting of regular polymeric micropatterns and rough carbon nanofibers, with similar static contact angles.
