Structural performance of steel-concrete sandwich beams with carbon nanofiber reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cementitious materials such as concrete are typically characterised as quasi-brittle with low tensile strength and low strain capacity, which hence affect the long-term durability of the structure.

Electromechanically Tunable Carbon Nanofiber Photonic Crystal [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2013
We demonstrate an electrically tunable 2D photonic crystal array constructed from vertically aligned carbon nanofibers. The nanofibers are actuated by applying a voltage between adjacent carbon nanofiber pairs grown directly on metal electrodes, thus dynamically changing the form factor of the photonic crystal lattice.

In-situ Preparation and Electrochemical Performance of an Urchin-like Carbon Nanofibers@LiFePO4 Hybrid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
Carbon nanofibers are in-situ prepared on the surface of LiFePO4 by chemical vapor deposition, resulting in an “urchin-like” hybrid. The microstructure of the nanocomposite is analyzed by XRD, TEM, SEM and N2 absorption.

Enhanced thermal conductance of polymer composites through embeddingaligned carbon nanofibers

open access: yesAIMS Materials Science, 2016
The focus of this work is to find a more efficient method of enhancing the thermal conductance of polymer thin films. This work compares polymer thin films embedded with randomly oriented carbon nanotubes to those with vertically aligned carbon ...

Integrating TiO2/SiO2 into Electrospun Carbon Nanofibers towards Superior Lithium Storage Performance

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
In order to overcome the poor electrical conductivity of titania (TiO2) and silica (SiO2) anode materials for lithium ion batteries (LIBs), we herein report a facile preparation of integrated titania–silica–carbon (TSC) nanofibers via ...
