Production of templated carbon nano materials, carbon nanofibers and super capasitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
i. Porous carbons are usually obtained via carbonization of precursors of natural or synthetic origin, followed by activation. To meet the requirements, a novel approach, the template carbonization method, has been proposed. Replication, the process of

Dipole‐Engineered Conductive Additives for Ultrastable Interphase Evolution in High‐Areal‐Capacity Silicon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In the work reported herein, dipole‐engineered sulfonated carbon nanofibers enable conductive additives to actively regulate interphase formation in silicon anodes. Polar sulfonyl groups guide electrolyte decomposition to form a compact LiF‐rich interphase while promoting robust integration with silicon.

Temperature dependence of carbon nanofiber resistance

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2010
Transport properties under current stress are examined for a carbon nanofiber (CNF) on an insulating substrate between tungsten-deposited gold electrodes. The temperature dependence of CNF resistance is determined based on our previously reported heat transport model. The measured devices exhibit a thermal activation behavior, suggesting transport in a

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...
