Solitons in carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: greenPhysical Review B, 2000
The symmetries of spontaneous lattice distortions in carbon nanotubes are investigated. When the degeneracy of the ground states remains discrete, there are solitons or domain walls connecting the different symmetry broken vaccua. These solitons, similarly to the case of polyacetelene, are fractionally charged states.

Carbon Nanotubes in Biomedicine [PDF]

open access: yesTopics in Current Chemistry, 2020
Nowadays, biomaterials have become a crucial element in numerous biomedical, preclinical, and clinical applications. The use of nanoparticles entails a great potential in these fields mainly because of the high ratio of surface atoms that modify the physicochemical properties and increases the chemical reactivity.

Nanospintronics with carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesSemiconductor Science and Technology, 2006
One of the actual challenges of spintronics is the realization of a spin-transistor allowing to control spin transport through an electrostatic gate. In this review, we report on different experiments which demonstrate a gate control of spin transport in a carbon nanotube connected to ferromagnetic leads.
