Carbon nitride-assisted thermal treatment for sintering-resistant Pt/C catalysts

open access: yesJournal of Electrochemical Science and Engineering
High-temperature annealing often induces severe sintering of Pt nanoparticles in Pt/C catalysts, resulting in activity degradation. Here, a carbon nitride–assisted thermal treatment strategy is proposed to enhance the thermal stability of Pt/C.

Picolinamide Functionalization on Carbon Nitride Edges for Enhanced Charge Separation and Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesNanomaterials
The periodical distribution of N and C atoms in carbon nitride (CN) not only results in localized electrons in each tri-s-triazine unit, but oxidation and reduction sites are in close contact spatially, resulting in severe carrier recombination.

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Boron-Nitride-Carbon Organogels

open access: yes, 2022
Heteroatom-doping or peripheral addition of functional groups are the major strategies used to enrich the chemical and physical properties of the polyphenylene-based frameworks. In this work, we describe the synthesis of the first BN-doped polyphenylenic material obtained through a decarbonylative [4 + 2] Diels-Alder cyclo-addition reaction between a ...

A Modular Bioinstructive Platform Reveals Mechanistic Insights into Additive‐Free, Topography‐Driven Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered microparticle topographies direct human mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis without biochemical additives. This osteogenic commitment is driven by canonical Hedgehog signaling and followed by temporal IGF‐II engagement. Two‐photon polymerization demonstrates spatial control, enabling the engineering of topographical gradients that pattern ...

Atom-Based Geometrical Fingerprinting of Conformal Two-Dimensional Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The shape of two-dimensional materials plays a significant role on their chemical and physical properties. Two-dimensional materials are basic meshes that are formed by mesh points (vertices) given by atomic positions, and connecting lines (edges ...
