Quantum dots visibly forge carbon bonds [PDF]
Organic Chemistry Chemists are late to the game that plants play of using visible light to make carbon-carbon bonds. Nonetheless, they have made up for lost time over the past decade, applying light activation of precious iridium and ruthenium catalysts to a wide variety of molecular transformations. Zhang et al. and Caputo et al.

Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

This work presents a programmable atomic engineering strategy for 2D materials using Å‐scale nanoreactors formed by bilayer graphene (BLG) intercalation. A new class of alkali‐iron‐chloride compounds, along with lateral heterostructures composed of monolayer alkali halides and iron chlorides, is revealed.

An alternative route to obtain carbon quantum dots from photoluminescent materials in peat [PDF]
Peat, an organic compound easily found in the soil (easy to acquire), has more than 50% elemental carbon in its composition and can be used as raw material to produce carbon quantum dots (CQDs, C-dots, Carbon Dots).

Photostable epoxy polymerized carbon quantum dots luminescent thin films and the performance study
High photostable epoxy polymerized carbon quantum dots (C-dots) luminescent thin films were prepared and their performances were compared with the CdTe quantum dots (QDs). First, water soluble C-dots (λem = 543.60 nm) were synthesized.

Carbon quantum dots for the detection of antibiotics and pesticides
Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are novel nanomaterials with interesting physical and chemical properties, which are intensely studied only in the last decade. Unique properties, such as its inherent fluorescent property, high resistance to photobleaching, high surface area, ease of synthesis, flexible choice of precursor, and surface tunability enable CQDs
