Photosynthetic Fractionation of the Stable Isotopes of Oxygen and Carbon [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1993
Isotope discrimination during photosynthetic exchange of O2 and CO2 was measured using enzyme, thylakoid, and whole cell preparations. Evolved oxygen from isolated spinach thylakoids was isotopically identical (within analytical error) to its source water.

A pilot study of stable isotope fractionation in Bombyx mori rearing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, and nitrogen isotopes derived from three different strains of silkworms at different life stages involved in silkworm rearing, were measured to understand the fractionation characteristics of stable isotopes at different stages ...

Fractionation of the Stable Isotopes of Inorganic Carbon by Seagrasses [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1980
The delta(13)C values for seagrasses collected along the Texas Gulf Coast range from -10.9 to -11.4 per thousand. These values are similar to the delta(13)C values of terrestrial C(4) plants, but seagrasses lack bundle sheath cells which are important in determining the delta(13)C values of C(4) plants.

Carbon stable isotopes suggest that hippopotamus‐vectored nutrients subsidize aquatic consumers in an East African river

open access: yesEcosphere, 2015
© 2015 McCauley et al. The common hippopotamus, Hippopotamus amphibius, transports millions of tons of organic matter annually from its terrestrial feeding grounds into aquatic habitats.

The Preparation of Carbon and Nitrogen Stable Isotopes Reference Materials Using Sediments from the Bohai and East China Seas

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2017
The stable isotope of carbon and nitrogen (δ13C and δ15N) in marine sediments have received much attention as they can be used to trace the sources of organic matter and are helpful in understanding the carbon cycle, climate change and the transformation

Stable isotope analysis provides new information on winter habitat use of declining avian migrants that is relevant to their conservation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Winter habitat use and the magnitude of migratory connectivity are important parameters when assessing drivers of the marked declines in avian migrants. Such information is unavailable for most species.

Stable carbon isotopes of wood: a clue to palaeoclimate? [PDF]

open access: yesPalaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2002
Abstract Detailed stable carbon isotope and molecular investigations were undertaken on a number of archaeological and fossil wood specimens to provide insights into their use as rigorous independent palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental parameters.

Tracing the Deep Carbon Cycle Using Metal Stable Isotopes: Opportunities and Challenges

open access: yesEngineering, 2019
The subduction of marine carbonates and carbonated oceanic crust to the Earth’s interior and the return of recycled carbon to the surface via volcanism may play a pivotal role in governing Earth’s atmosphere, climate, and biosphere over geologic time ...

Seasonal changes in the δ13C and δ15N signatures of the Lago Maggiore pelagic food web

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2011
Seasonal variation in the relative contributions of littoral and pelagic food sources to the diets of open-water zooplankton and subsequent changes in their trophic positions were investigated with carbon and nitrogen Stable Isotope Analysis (SIA).
