Minimizing Star-spot Contamination of Exoplanet Transit Spectroscopy Using Alternate Normalization

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Recently, M. H. Currie et al. (2023) simulated the detection of molecules in the atmospheres of temperate rocky exoplanets transiting nearby M-dwarf stars.

A MOLECULAR LINE SURVEY OF THE EXTREME CARBON STAR CRL 3068 AT MILLIMETER WAVELENGTHS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present the results of a molecular line survey of the extreme carbon star CRL 3068. The observations were carried out with the Arizona Radio Observatory (ARO) 12 m telescope and the Heinrich Hertz Submillimeter Telescope (SMT) at the λ 2 mm and λ 1.3 ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

TRACING THE ASYMMETRY IN THE ENVELOPE AROUND THE CARBON STAR CIT 6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present high angular resolution observations of HC3N J = 5 − 4 line and 7 mm continuum emission from the extreme carbon star CIT 6. We find that the 7 mm continuum emission is unresolved and has a flux consistent with blackbody thermal radiation from ...

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

PHYSICAL PARAMETERS OF HII/PDR COMPLEX IN ORION BAR ESTIMATED BY OBSERVATIONS OF 8 MM RECOMBINATION LINES. EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE OF 1 С Ori STAR

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2014
Physical parameters of HII/PDR complex in Ori Bar were estimated using observations of recombination radio lines (RRL) of carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and helium (He) with RT-22 radio telescope in Pushchino.

Perylenedioic Acid‐Derived Carbon Dots with Near 100% Quantum Yield in Aqueous Solution for Lasing and Lighting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials
Carbon dots (CDs) are a burgeoning star of luminescent carbon‐based nanomaterials with emerging interest for various applications. Luminescence from the sp2‐conjugated domains in the carbon cores is considered to be the intrinsic bandgap emission of CDs,

The detached dust and gas shells around the carbon star U Antliae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Context. Geometrically thin, detached shells of gas have been found around a handful of carbon stars. The current knowledge on these shells is mostly based on CO radio line data.

Carbon burning in intermediate mass primordial stars

open access: yes, 2004
The evolution of a zero metallicity 9 M_s star is computed, analyzed and compared with that of a solar metallicity star of identical ZAMS mass. Our computations range from the main sequence until the formation of a massive oxygen-neon white dwarf ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
