Estimation of Total Carbon Stocks in Soil and Vegetation of Tropical Peat Forest in Indonesia

open access: yesJurnal Manajemen Hutan Tropika, 2012
The study was conducted in the forest concession area of PT. Diamond Raya Timber, Riau Province, Indonesia.  Measurement and calculation carbon stocks in soil and vegetation of tropical peat forest should be done accurately to anticipate carbon trading.

An introduction to the distribution of carbon stocks in temperate broadleaf forests of northern Iran

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2020
Northern forests of Iran are among the most important plant communities in Iran due to their dynamic and diverse vegetation composition and fertile soils. There is little information about carbon stocks of these forests.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Do carbon prices affect stock prices?

open access: yesJournal of Financial Research, 2023
AbstractWe explore how carbon pricing affects corporate financial performance during Phase 3 of the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). We find that the relationship between carbon prices and stock prices depends critically on the proportion of verified emissions covered by freely allocated ETS allowances: For firms with a greater ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Brazil's Soil Carbon Stocks

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, 2002
Soil organic carbon (C) stocks to a depth of 30 cm were estimated for Brazil on the basis of a map of different soil‐vegetation associations (SVA) combined with results from a soil database. The SVA map was derived by intersection of soil and vegetation maps.

Soils apart from equilibrium – consequences for soil carbon balance modelling [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2007
Many projections of the soil carbon sink or source are based on kinetically defined carbon pool models. Para-meters of these models are often determined in a way that the steady state of the model matches observed carbon stocks.

Green Carbon: The role of natural forests in carbon storage. Part 2. Biomass carbon stocks in the Great Western Woodlands

open access: yes, 2015
This report is the second in a series that examines the role of natural forests and woodlands in the storage of carbon. Understanding the role of natural ecosystems in carbon storage is an important part of solving the climate change problem. This report

Spectroscopic Investigation of Polysulfide Redox Evolution in Catholyte Solutions for Potassium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Potassium–sulfur batteries are investigated using UV–vis spectroscopy to track the evolution of potassium polysulfide species at elevated temperature. The study reveals sulfur radical anions as key intermediates and shows how solvent composition and cell design influence polysulfide stability, redox behavior, and cycling performance, providing insights

Organic Carbon Stocks of Mexican Montane Habitats: Variation Among Vegetation Types and Land-Use

open access: yes, 2020
Montane ecosystems occur throughout the world, and harbor many endemic species. They also provide key ecological services, including the catchment of water resources and the storage of organic carbon.
