Engineered Protein‐Based Ionic Conductors for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rational incorporation of charged residues into an engineered, self‐assembling protein scaffold yields solid‐state protein films with outstanding ionic conductivity. Salt‐doping further enhances conductivity, an effect amplified in the engineered variants. These properties enable the material integration into an efficient supercapacitor.

Carbon Sequestration in Agriculture: an Offset Program versus Other Conservation Programs [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we study the social efficiency of private carbon markets that include trading in agricultural soil carbon sequestration when there are significant co-benefits (positive environmental externalities) associated with the practices that ...

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Climate Trading - The Clean Development Mechanism and Africa [PDF]

open access: yes
Global warming is today, without a doubt, one of the biggest international issues. Whilst no country will go completely unscathed by future consequences of climate change, the impacts thereof – in terms of loss of life as well as the relative effects on ...

Label‐Free SERS Fingerprinting of Neuroprotein Conformational Dynamics in Human Saliva

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Galvanic molecular entrapment (GME) is a label‐free method for detecting and quantifying neuroprotein conformational states. This technique enables direct surface binding and in situ hotspot generation around molecules, effectively overcoming challenges related to target localization and mismatched hotspot geometries.

Economic Implications of Alternative Allocation Schemes for Emission Allowances: A Theoretical and Applied Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Political feasibility of emission trading systems may crucially depend on the free initial allocation of emission allowances to energy-intensive industries in order to ameliorate adverse production and employment effects.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.
