Carbon for soils, not soils for carbon
AbstractThe role of soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration as a ‘win‐win’ solution to both climate change and food insecurity receives an increasing promotion. The opportunity may be too good to be missed! Yet the tremendous complexity of the two issues at stake calls for a detailed and nuanced examination of any potential solution, no matter how ...

Carbon nanofibers based carbon–carbon composite fibers
AbstractTextile grade polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was used as a precursor material for carbon fiber preparation. E-beam irradiated polyacrylonitrile grafted carbon nanofibers were dispersed in polyacrylonitrile solution (dissolved in dimethyl formamide).

Carbon Anode in Carbon History [PDF]
This study examines how the several major industries, associated with a carbon artifact production, essentially belong to one, closely knit family. The common parents are the geological fossils called petroleum and coal. The study also reviews the major developments in carbon nanotechnology and electrocatalysis over the last 30 years or so.

A new method for reconstructing the geological history of hydrocarbon accumulation is developed, which are constrained by U-Pb isotope age and clumped isotope (Δ47) temperature of host minerals of hydrocarbon-bearing inclusions. For constraining the time

Sedimentology of reefal buildups of the Xiannüdong Formation (Cambrian Series 2), SW China
The reefs in the Xiannüdong Formation (Cambrian Series 2) are the oldest archaeocyathan–microbial bioconstructions in China, but the details of their microbial structures have not been previously described.

Carbon···Carbon Weak Interactions
A theoretical study of the complexes formed by systems with electron-deficient and electron-excessive carbon atoms was carried out using DFT and ab initio methods up to the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ computational level. Stable complexes with interaction energies between -6.0 and -22.8 kJ mol(-1) were obtained that correspond to weak C...C interactions.

Preparation, physical-chemical characterisation and cytocompatibility of calcium carbonate cements [PDF]
The feasibility of calcium carbonate cements involving the recrystallisation of metastable calcium carbonate varieties has been demonstrated. Calcium carbonate cement compositions presented in this paper can be prepared straightforwardly by simply mixing
