Palaeoenvironment, palaeogeography, and palaeoclimatology of the Mississippian carbonate ramp in the Alborz tectonostratigraphic zone: Implications for deciphering the controlling factors on ramp evolution

Geological Journal, 2022
The Mississippian successions of the Alborz tectonostratigraphic zone have been studied in several sections (Dozdehban, Naserabad, Shahmirzad, and Mighan) extending from north to southeast.

Carbonate ramp depositional systems

Sedimentary Geology, 1992
Abstract The classification, tectonic settings, stratigraphy and early diagenesis of carbonate ramp systems are reviewed. Carbonate ramps are common in all geological periods, but were dominant at times when reef-constructing organisms were absent or inhibited. Ramps can be subdivided into inner-, mid-, and outer-ramp environments.

FACIES HETEROGENEITIES AND 3D POROSITY MODELLING IN AN OLIGOCENE (UPPER CHATTIAN) CARBONATE RAMP, SALENTO PENINSULA, SOUTHERN ITALY

Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2020
Appraisal of the volumes of fluid in a carbonate reservoir will typically require a reliable predictive model. This can be achieved by combining studies of well‐exposed carbonate successions with 3D models in order to obtain reliable quantitative data ...

Facies, sequence framework, and reservoir quality along a Triassic carbonate ramp: Kangan Formation, South Pars Field, Persian Gulf Superbasin

, 2020
The Lower Triassic Kangan Formation of the Persian Gulf Superbasin forms one of the largest reservoirs in the South Pars/North Field, the world’s largest gas field.

Paleoenvironmental control on trace fossils across a Mississippian carbonate ramp succession, Mobarak Formation, east of Central and Eastern Alborz, Iran

, 2020
The Lower Carboniferous Mobarak Formation in the east of Central and Eastern Alborz Mountains, northern Iran, is deposited on a distally steepened carbonate ramp.

Cool-water carbonate ramps: a review

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 2006
Abstract This review of marine, cool-water carbonate ramps considers both their defining features and the key publications relating to them. Cool-water carbonate environments are dominated by open, skeletal debris-covered sea bottoms which support biological assemblages devoid of hermatypic coral reefs, calcified green algae and non-skeletal ...

Sensitivities to Flow–modeling Assumptions for a Heterogeneous Carbonate Ramp – An Example from a Jurassic Carbonate Ramp

72nd EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2010, 2010
Carbonate reservoirs pose significant challenges for reservoir simulation and flow prediction due to lateral and vertical heterogeneities that are difficult to predict. Limits to seismic resolution, heterogeneities in rock properties and limited constraints on subsurface data require the consideration of multiple geologic scenarios for flow predictions.

Oncoid distribution in the shallow domains of a Kimmeridgian carbonate ramp (Late Jurassic, NE Spain)

, 2020
The distribution and abundance of oncoids in the shallow domains of a latest Kimmeridgian carbonate ramp was accomplished on the basis of a detailed sedimentological and petrographic analysis of the lower part of the Higueruelas Formation (Iberian Basin,
