Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

Production prediction for fracture-vug carbonate reservoirs using electric imaging logging data

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2018
Considering the fluid flow non-darcy characteristics in fracture-vug carbonate reservoirs, a new multi-scale conduit flow model production prediction method for fracture-vug carbonate reservoirs was presented using image segmentation technique of ...

Oxygen Supply of Islets of Langerhans by Photosynthetically Active Microalgae in Bioprinted Co‐Cultures Maintains Their Function in a Hypoxic Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

Three-Dimensional Geological Modeling Method for Fault-Block Carbonate Reservoirs Based on Hierarchical Control and Multi-Information Fusion

open access: yesShiyou huagong gaodeng xuexiao xuebao
Compared with clastic reservoirs, carbonate reservoirs have extremely strong heterogeneity, multiple types of storage spaces, and uneven development of pores, caves, and fractures. How to characterize the three-dimensional storage space of strongly ...

A Physiological Microfluidic Blood–Brain‐Barrier Model for In Vitro Study of Nanoparticle Trafficking and Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human microfluidic blood‐brain barrier (mBBB) model enables spatially resolved comparison of nanoparticle trafficking. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), liposomes, and nanoplastics exhibit distinct transport and disruption behaviors, revealing that membrane composition and uptake pathways govern BBB interaction.

Stratigraphy and development of the Late Miocene-Early Pleistocene Hawke’s Bay forearc basin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A Late Miocene-Early Pleistocene mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sedimentary succession about 2 500 m thick in the Hawke’s Bay forearc basin is the focus of a basin analysis. The area under investigation covers 3 500 km2 of western and central Hawke’s Bay.
