Carbonate Reservoir Rocks

1980
Abstract This core workshop is the product of an effort by the SEPM Carbonate Research Group to emphasize the value of careful core interpretation to hydrocarbon exploration and production programs. Initially conceived as a small conference the format was expanded in response to strong interest from the geologic community. The end result

A New Approach of Reservoir Description of Carbonate Reservoirs

SPE International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition in Mexico, 2002
Abstract This study is conducted to test and evaluate the use of current methods of reservoir characterization, namely the permeability-porosity correlation, the J-function, and the Reservoir Quality Index (RQI) concepts, for reservoir description of heterogeneous carbonate formations.

Carbonate Coquina Reservoirs - New Insights for Petrophysical Reservoir Characterisation

Proceedings, 2014
With the recent discoveries of Pre-Salt oil fields in lacustrine carbonate reservoirs of Barremian-Aptian age, on both African and Brazilian Margins of the South Atlantic, interest has increased in the petrophysical aspects of these complex reservoirs.

Notes on Carbonate Reservoir Rocks

Energy Sources, 1982
Abstract This is the first in a series of articles on carbonate reservoir rocks that will be published in the Energy Sources journal. The reader is introduced to carbonate reservoir rocks. In addition, classifications of reefs and bioherms are presented.

Rocky Mountain Carbonate Reservoirs

1985
Abstract This core workshop was organized to give geologists from across the country and around the world the opportunity to see a wide variety of carbonate reservoirs as well as some carbonate source rocks from the Rocky Mountain region.

3D visualization of carbonate reservoirs

The Leading Edge, 2003
Conventional 2D and 3D seismic mapping is not ideal for characterizing carbonate reservoirs mainly because of the complexity and heterogeneity of carbonate systems. The unique depositional systems of carbonate environments means that a standard interpretation routine is often inadequate and more sophisticated techniques are needed.

Enhanced Reservoir Description in Carbonate and Clastic Reservoirs

Proceedings of Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2007
Abstract The reservoir is composed of a mixture of dolomite, limestone, anhydrite and shale interstratified with sandstones member. The sandstone is predominantly poorly consolidated and quartz rich. Much of the sand is medium grained although coarser sand is common in the lowermost thick sandstone units.

Wettability Challenges in Carbonate Reservoirs

Proceedings of SPE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium, 2010
Abstract Injection of water for pressure maintenance and waterflooding applications is becoming an increasingly important issue. Historically, the total suspended solids of the water were given more consideration rather than the total dissolved solids.

Reservoir Characterization of Carbonate Reservoirs Karachaganak, Tengiz, Kashagan

Proceedings, 2013
This article presents a study which compares carbonate fields in Central Asia and Southeast Asia, their reservoir properties and petroleum system. The Central Asian carbonate reservoirs in the Pricaspian Basin selected for comparison include Kashagan, Karachaganak and Tengiz.

Integrated Reservoir Modelling of a Major Arabian Carbonate Reservoir

Middle East Oil Show, 1995
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of an integrated reservoir management study of a large carbonate reservoir. Geostatistical and scale averaging tools were used to develop detailed geologic models and a simulation window model.
