Discriminating cool-water from warm-water carbonates and their diagenetic environments using element geochemistry: the Oligocene Tikorangi Formation (Taranaki Basin) and the dolomite effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Fields portrayed within bivariate element plots have been used to distinguish between carbonates formed in warm- (tropical) water and cool- (temperate) water depositional settings.

Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.

Metal–Organic Frameworks for Gaseous Pollutant Management: From Capture to Neutralization and Reutilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review maps how MOFs can manage hazardous gases by combining adsorption, neutralization, and reutilization, enabling sustainable air‐pollution control. Covering chemical warfare agent simulants, SO2, NOx, NH3, H2S, and volatile organic compounds, it highlights structure‐guided strategies that boost selectivity, water tolerance, and cycling ...

Major factors controlling the development of marine carbonate reservoirs

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2015
Through case study of reef-shoal, karst and dolostone reservoirs in the Tarim and Sichuan Basins, the material base and the mechanisms of porosity creation, modification and preservation of carbonate reservoirs were examined carefully in order to figure ...

Projections for future radiocarbon content in dissolved inorganic carbon in hardwater lakes: a retrospective approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Inland water bodies contain significant amounts of carbon in the form of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) derived from a mixture of modern atmospheric and pre-aged sources, which needs to be considered in radiocarbon-based dating and natural isotope ...

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

Integrated Reservoir Characterisation in a Carbonate Reservoir

open access: yesEAGE/SPE Joint Workshop - Well Testing and Seismics, 2009
In this large carbonate platform reservoir, there are two distinct regions identifiable from seismic data: platform interior and raised margin.

Amyloidogenic Peptide Fragments Designed From Bacterial Collagen‐like Proteins Form Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study identified amyloidogenic sequence motifs in bacterial collagen‐like proteins and exploited these to design peptides that self‐assemble into β‐sheet fibers and form hydrogels. One hydrogel supported healthy fibroblast growth, showing promise for biocompatible materials. Our work demonstrates that bacterial sequences can be harnessed to create

Paleokarstic water tables and their control on reservoirs in Ordovician Yingshan Formation, Tazhong Area, Tarim Basin, NW China

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2018
Based on cores, well logging and karstic paleogeomorphology, the identification method of multi-period paleokarstic water tables and their distribution and control on reservoirs were researched of Yingshan Formation in Tazhong Area, Tarim Basin.

Evidence for an impact-induced biosphere from the δ34S signature of sulphides in the Rochechouart impact structure, France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The highly eroded 23 km diameter Rochechouart impact structure, France, has extensive evidence for post-impact hydrothermal alteration and sulphide mineralization.
