Development of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Hydroxyapatite Bioceramics

Key Engineering Materials, 2006
This paper reports development of a production method to produce a composite material that is biocompatible, with high mechanical strength and resilience. The chemical precipitation conditions necessary for the production of synthetic hydroxyapatite (HAp) were determined and include pH, temperature and rate of reaction.

Design and fabrication of pyrolytic carbon-SiC-fluoridated hydroxyapatite-hydroxyapatite multilayered coating on carbon fibers

Applied Surface Science, 2019
Abstract A multilayered coating of pyrolytic carbon-SiC-fluoridated hydroxyapatite-hydroxyapatite (PSFH) was designed and synthesized on carbon fibers (CF) by a combined method composed of chemical vapor deposition and pulsed electrochemical deposition.

ESR and IR studies of carbonate-containing hydroxyapatites

Calcified Tissue International, 1982
Synthetic carbonate-containing and carbonate-free hydroxyapatites(CO3-HA and CO3-free HA) have been investigated using ESR and IR absorption, together with X-ray diffraction and chemical analyses. Comparison of the IR spectra between 13C-enriched 13CO3-HA and 12CO3-HA prepared at 100 degrees C and at high pH suggested that the carbonate substitutes for

Preparation and Characterization of Carbon Hydroxyapatite with Different Carbon Content

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Carbonate hydroxylapatite (CHAP) with different carbon content synthesized by precipitation, As raw material to calcium nitrate、potassium phosphate、potassium carbonate, by changing the incorporation of potassium carbonate. The CHAP was characterized by XRD、TEM and FTIR. And through analysis compared structure and morphology of carbon hydroxyapatite with

Plasma-sprayed hydroxyapatite coatings on carbon/carbon composites

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2004
Carbon fiber reinforced carbon composites (C/C composites) are candidate materials for loaded human bones because of their excellent biocompatibility, as well as appropriate elastic modulus similar to that of human cortical bone. A simple plasma spraying method was used to coat hydroxyapatite (HA) on C/C composite substrates to endow surface ...

[Hydroxyapatite bioactive coating on carbon/carbon composites].

Sheng wu yi xue gong cheng xue za zhi = Journal of biomedical engineering = Shengwu yixue gongchengxue zazhi, 2006
A simple plasma spraying method was employed in coating hydroxyapaptite (HA) on to carbon/carbon composites (C/C composites). The morphology of the coating was examined under scanning electron microscope (SEM). The phase constitutions of the HA coating were determined by X-ray diffractometer (XRD).

Micro-Raman Line Broadening in Synthetic Carbonated Hydroxyapatite

Journal of Dental Research, 1986
Using a Raman microspectrometer, we have recorded Raman spectra of synthetically produced hydroxyapatite samples with varying carbonate contents. The apatites were produced from aqueous solutions at about 40°C. From line-broadening values of the symmetric phosphate stretch, it was concluded that the carbonate substitution in these lattices has a ...

The Influence of Carbonate on the Atomic Structure and Reactivity of Hydroxyapatite

Journal of Dental Research, 1981
A series of synthetic carbonated and non-carbonated apatites was investigated using high resolution transmission electron microscopy, and their dissolution behavior was tested under sink conditions, using the rotating disc method. n-Beam lattice images of the apatite samples were of a resolution greater than has been previously reported, and revealed ...
