Passive CO2 removal in urban soils:evidence from brownfield sites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Management of urban brownfield land can contribute to significant removal of atmospheric CO2 through the development of soil carbonate minerals. However, the potential magnitude and stability of this carbon sink is poorly quantified as previous studies ...

Instantaneous Capture and Mineralization of Flue Gas Carbon Dioxide: Pilot Scale Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Multiple CO2 capture and storage (CCS) processes are required to address anthropogenic CO2 problems. However, a method which can directly capture and mineralize CO2 at a point source, under actual field conditions, has advantages and could help offset ...

CO2 sequestration through direct aqueous mineral carbonation of red gypsum

open access: yesPetroleum, 2018
In this study, the physical and chemical characteristics and direct aqueous mineral carbonation of red gypsum have been investigated. The characterization studies showed that red gypsum is a very potential feedstock for mineral carbonation.

Proposal for classification of concrete quality based on accelerated carbonation tests

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2023
Reinforcement corrosion is a problem affecting the durability of most concrete structures. When concrete is employed without proper care, it may function inadequately as a barrier, allowing aggressive ions or acidic substances in the atmosphere to attack

In situ studies of materials for high temperature CO2 capture and storage. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) offers a possible solution to curb the CO2 emissions from stationary sources in the coming decades, considering the delays in shifting energy generation to carbon neutral sources such as wind, solar and biomass.

Carbon Nanoparticles-Decorated Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
AbstractMulti walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were decorated by activated carbon nanoparticles of resorcinol-formaldehyde aerogels. Carbon nanospheres and MWCNTs were mixed by equal mass ratios for different durations. The products were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, nanoscanning electron microscopy, transmission ...

Mineral carbonation of ceramic brick at low pressure and room temperature. A simulation study for a superficial CO2 store using a common clay as sealing material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This research explores the possibilities of CO2 sequestration on ceramic bricks in a short time and at surface conditions. The experiment was carried out in a specially designed reaction chamber, filled with brick wastes and sealed with common clays. The

Study of Durability of Concrete with Fly Ash as Fine Aggregate under Alternative Interactions of Freeze-Thaw and Carbonation

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
To study the durability of concrete with fly ash as fine aggregate subjected to alternative attacks of freeze-thaw and carbonation, the appearance, mass loss, relative dynamic modulus of elasticity, relative compressive strength, and carbonation depth of

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
