Prediction of Carbonation Depth in Blended Systems

2017
The majority of cement available worldwide includes supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) as a mineral additive to improve mechanical and durability properties of cement. The alkalinity of the concrete made using such cements is less as SCMs consume the calcium hydroxide produced on clinker hydration by the pozzolanic reaction.

In-Depth Investigation of the Validity of the Archie Equation in Carbonate Rocks

Proceedings of SPE Production and Operations Symposium, 2001
Abstract Archie found an empirical equation for consolidated sandstones relating several formation parameters, such as, porosity and water saturation. Despite its common use by petroleum engineers, Archie equation is not easy to apply to carbonate rocks because formation parameters (a, m, n) are functions of changes in the pore geometry,

Evaluation of hybrid depth scanning for carbon‐ion radiotherapy

Medical Physics, 2012
Purpose:In radiotherapy with a scanned carbon‐ion beam, its Bragg peak is shifted along the depth direction either by inserting the range shifter plates or by changing the beam‐extraction energy of a synchrotron. In the former technique (range shifter scanning: RS), the range shifter plates broaden the beam size and produce secondary fragments through ...

On the carbonate compensation depth in the Pacific Ocean

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1970
Abstract Calcium carbonate is shown to be present in Pacific Ocean sediments which underly undersaturated waters and, therefore, the presence or absence of sedimentary carbonates is not simply due to a transition from supersaturated to undersaturated waters, but is controlled by rate-limiting factors.

Tritium depth profiling in carbon by accelerator mass spectrometry

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1997
Abstract A facility for tritium depth profiling measurements by AMS has been installed at the Rossendorf 3 MV Tandetron. Depth profiles are obtained by mechanical scanning of the sputter sample inside a commercial Cs sputter ion source. The deuterium profiles are obtained simultaneously using the injection magnet for mass separation. First results of

Soil carbon: Depth of understanding

2017
Earth system models disagree on the fate of soil organic carbon under climate change. Reproducing spatial patterns of the climatological temperature sensitivity of soil carbon is a necessary condition for trustworthy simulations of the carbon-cycle–climate feedback.

Porosity Variation in Carbonates as a Function of Depth

1997
ABSTRACT Log-determined porosities of argillaceous limestone, limestone, dolomitic limestone, and dolomite of the Mississippian Madison Group in the Williston Basin were analyzed to determine the influence of carbonate mineralogy, shale content, and fabric on porosity loss with depth of burial.
