Lunar Dust Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical Reactivity: Simulation and Characterization [PDF]

open access: yes
Lunar dust is recognized to be a highly reactive material in its native state. Many, if not all Constellation systems will be affected by its adhesion, abrasion, and reactivity.

Solar Aluminum Production by Vacuum Carbothermal Reduction of Alumina—Thermodynamic and Experimental Analyses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Thermochemical equilibrium calculations indicate the possibility of significantly lowering the onset temperature of aluminum vapor formation via carbothermal reduction of Al2O3 by decreasing the total pressure, enabling its vacuum distillation while ...

Mass balance at partial run of quartzite carbothermal reduction

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2016
Mass balance for the process of incomplete carbothermal reduction of SiO2 to SiC thermogravimetric studies was presented. Tests were performed for the molar ratio of C/SiO2 = 3 at a temperature of 1 500 °C under an argon flow in the range from 0,1 to 3,4

THERMODYNAMICS OF CARBOTHERMAL REDUCTION PROCESS COPPER SLAG

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy
The article analyses the thermodynamic laws of processing iron-based compounds contained in copper production slag using the method of carbothermic recovery. Evaluation of the probable direction of carbothermic reactions occurring between oxidized compounds and carbon in the slag was carried out by changing the thermodynamic values of the system.

Carbothermic reduction of metal sulfides

open access: yes, 2002
