Roasting of sulphide using carbothermal reduction

open access: yes, 2016
The carbothermic reduction process is a direct reduction of sulfides. It allows a roasting in which higher concentrations of metals such as molybdenum are obtained by using both a reducing agent (in this case, carbon C) and a sulfur scavenger, such as CaO so as to prevent air toxic gases pollution such as SO2.

Thermodynamic Investigation of Molybdenite Carbothermic Reduction In the Presence of Magnesium Oxide

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Materials in Engineering, 2012
Carbothermic reduction of Molybdenite in the presence of Magnesium oxide was thermodynamically studied. The stability diagrams for MoS2-MgO and MoS2-MgO-C Systems was prepared.

Preparation of refractory cermet structures for lithium compatibility testing [PDF]

open access: yes
High-purity nitride and carbide cermets were synthesized for compatability testing in liquid lithium. A process was developed for the preparation of high-purity hafnium nitride powder, which was subsequently blended with tungsten powder or tantalum ...

THERMODYNAMICS OF CARBOTHERMAL REDUCTION PROCESS COPPER SLAG

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy
The article analyses the thermodynamic laws of processing iron-based compounds contained in copper production slag using the method of carbothermic recovery. Evaluation of the probable direction of carbothermic reactions occurring between oxidized compounds and carbon in the slag was carried out by changing the thermodynamic values of the system.
