Heterogeneously Catalyzed Carboxylic Acid Hydrogenation to Alcohols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This critical review discusses the synthesis of alcohols via hydrogenation of carboxylic acids promoted by heterogeneous metal catalysis. The introductory chapter rationalizes the comparative reactivity of carboxylic acid derivatives, which is proceeded ...

Valorization of Lignin by Partial Wet Oxidation Using Sustainable Heteropoly Acid Catalysts

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
The production of carboxylic acids by partial wet oxidation of alkali lignin at elevated temperatures and pressures was studied experimentally. Two different heteropoly acids, phosphotungstic acid (H3PW12O40) and phosphomolybdic acid (H3PMo12O40), were ...

In silico and in vitro exploration of a tyrosinase for biocatalytic production of catechols

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tyrosinase from Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum is a promising biocatalyst for producing valuable catechols from monophenol substrates. This tyrosinase is uniquely suited to this due to its high monophenolase : diphenolase ratio. We combined in silico docking and in vivo kinetic characterisation of this tyrosinase with 11 industrially relevant monophenols,

Indole-3-carboxylic acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The crystal structure of indole-3-carboxylic acid, C9H7NO2, shows the presence of centrosymmetric hydrogen-bonded cyclic carboxylic acid dimers [OO = 2.649 (2) ŝ. These dimers are linked into a sheet structure through peripheral intermolecular hydrogen

Substituent influence of 2-pyridinecarboxylic acid framework in olefin epoxidation with oxidorhenium(V) complexes

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
In this project, we report the synthesis, full characterization, and catalytic activity in cyclooctene epoxidation reactions of five new oxidorhenium(V) complexes 1 ([ReOCl2(PPh3)(L1)]),2 ([ReOCl2(PPh3)(L2)]), 3 ([ReOCl2(PPh3)(L3)]), 4 ([ReOCl2(PPh3)(L4)]

Crystal structure of zymonic acid and a redetermination of its precursor, pyruvic acid

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2019
The structure of zymonic acid (systematic name: 4-hydroxy-2-methyl-5-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-carboxylic acid), C6H6O5, which had previously eluded crystallographic determination, is presented here for the first time.

De novo synthesis of short‐chain aldehydes and hydrocarbons secreted by the brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, mainly secretes 4‐oxo‐(E)‐2‐hexenal, (E)‐2‐decenal, dodecane and tridecane, a mixture representative of that released by many heteropterans. We demonstrated that H. halys can synthesise these secretory components de novo using dietary glucose.

Modeling the hydrolysis of perfluorinated compounds containing carboxylic and phosphoric acid ester functions, alkyl iodides, and sulfonamide groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Temperature dependent rate constants were estimated for the acid- and base-catalyzed and neutral hydrolysis reactions of perfluorinated telomer acrylates (FTAcrs) and phosphate esters (FTPEs), and the SN1 and SN2 hydrolysis reactions of fluorotelomer ...

New Synthesis of 7-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-1-carboxylic acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This report describes a new synthetic route to 7-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-1-carboxylic acid (Ahc), a constrained proline analogue, in which the key step is the Diels-Alder reaction using methyl 2-benzamidoacrylate as dienophile.

Structure Property Relationships of Carboxylic Acid Isosteres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The replacement of a carboxylic acid with a surrogate structure, or (bio)-isostere, is a classical strategy in medicinal chemistry. The general underlying principle is that by maintaining the features of the carboxylic acid critical for biological ...
