Estimating the age of renal tumors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We present a Bayesian method for estimating the age of a renal tumor given its size. We use a model of tumor growth based on published data from observations of untreated tumors. We find, for example, that the median age of a 5 cm tumor is 20 years, with interquartile range 16-23 and 90% confidence interval 11-30 years.

Testicular carcinoid tumor: A case report and literature review

open access: yesUrological Science, 2014
We present a case of a 46-year-old man with an incidental finding of a right testicular tumor on magnetic resonance imaging. He received radical orchiectomy, and the pathological report showed a testicular carcinoid tumor.

3D Kidneys and Kidney Tumor Semantic Segmentation using Boundary-Aware Networks [PDF]

open access: yesMICCAI Kidney Tumor Segmentation Challenge 2019, 2019
Automated segmentation of kidneys and kidney tumors is an important step in quantifying the tumor's morphometrical details to monitor the progression of the disease and accurately compare decisions regarding the kidney tumor treatment. Manual delineation techniques are often tedious, error-prone and require expert knowledge for creating unambiguous ...

Pulmonary neuroendocrine (carcinoid) tumors: European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society expert consensus and recommendations for best practice for typical and atypical pulmonary carcinoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This is an expert consensus from the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society recommending best practice for the management of pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors including typical and atypical carcinoids.

A case of pseudocystic liver metastases from an atypical lung carcinoid tumor

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2019
Metastatic neuroendocrine tumors of the liver typically appear as solid, hypervascular masses on imaging. Pseudocysts mimicking simple cysts are extremely rare. A 42-year-old Japanese woman was referred with a single pulmonary mass in the left lower lobe.

From Pixel to Cancer: Cellular Automata in Computed Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
AI for cancer detection encounters the bottleneck of data scarcity, annotation difficulty, and low prevalence of early tumors. Tumor synthesis seeks to create artificial tumors in medical images, which can greatly diversify the data and annotations for AI training.

Automatic Brain Tumor Detection and Segmentation Using U-Net Based Fully Convolutional Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
A major challenge in brain tumor treatment planning and quantitative evaluation is determination of the tumor extent. The noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique has emerged as a front-line diagnostic tool for brain tumors without ionizing radiation.

Cellular Automaton Model for Immunology of Tumor Growth [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
The stochastic discrete space-time model of an immune response on tumor spreading in a two-dimensional square lattice has been developed. The immunity-tumor interactions are described at the cellular level and then transferred into the setting of cellular automata (CA).

Nephrectomy for a case of intrarenal dermoid cyst: was it an appropriate decision? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Dermoid cyst in a kidney is rarely seen. We report a case of intrarenal dermoid cyst which mimics malignant renal tumour and discuss the dilemma in managing this ...
