Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and Sinonasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma
2020Sinonasal malignancies are uncommon, representing 1% of all neoplasms. A wide spectrum of malignant neoplasms arise from the sinonasal and skull base regions; the majority of these tumors are poorly or undifferentiated tumors manifesting overlapping features that result in diagnostic challenges.

Tracheobronchial Neuroendocrine Carcinoma in a Cat
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2007A tracheobronchial neuroendocrine carcinoma in a 10-year-old cat with a history of coughing, dyspnoea and anorexia is described. Endoscopic examination revealed a yellowish mass protruding into the trachea and partly obstructing the right bronchial lumen. Histological examination of biopsy samples revealed a hypercellular tumour consisting of sheets or

Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2000A 54-year-old man presented with jaundice. Total bilirubin was 29.4 mg/dL, and serum CA 19-9 was 2900.5 U/mL (normal 0-37). An abdominal CT revealed dilatation of intraand extrahepatic bile ducts and a relatively well-enhancing mass at the major duodenal papilla. Duodenoscopy showed a huge protruding mass having dirty-based ulcerative, necrotic orifice

Breast Carcinomas with Neuroendocrine Features (Neuroendocrine Carcinomas of the Breast)
2016Breast carcinomas with neuroendocrine features (NEC) have only been recently recognized as a separate diagnostic entity by the World Health Organization classification. This category of tumors encompasses neuroendocrine tumor, well differentiated; neuroendocrine carcinoma, poorly differentiated/small cell carcinoma; and invasive breast carcinoma with ...

Breast Carcinomas with Neuroendocrine Differentiation
Ultrastructural Pathology, 1985Twenty-two breast carcinomas with membrane bound granules by electron microscopy were tested for the presence of neuron specific enolase (NSE), neuropeptides and serotonin by immunohistochemistry. By light microscopy the cases studied included infiltrating ductal carcinomas, intraductal carcinomas, apocrine carcinomas, infiltrating lobular carcinomas ...

High-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma
Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine, 2014This review presents an update on classification, diagnosis and potentially 'drugable' molecular alterations of small cell carcinoma (SCC) and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the lung. The main controversies in the classification of lung neuroendocrine tumors are: whether SCC and LCNEC should remain separated or should be unified into a ...

Primary Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Liver
Ultrastructural Pathology, 1986A case of primary neuroendocrine carcinoma in an unusual location, the liver, is reported. The neoplasm was composed of small, uniform cells that had distinct borders and grew in strands, ribbons and nests; its appearance resembled that of a carcinoid. Electron microscopy and special staining of the neoplastic cells confirmed the neuroendocrine nature ...

Primary Neuroendocrine Breast Carcinoma
Clinical Breast Cancer, 2012Introduction In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) defined the neuroendocrine breast carcinoma (NEBC) as a subtype of invasive mammary carcinoma in which 50% of the tumor cells express neuroendocrine markers; immunohistochemical staining include chromogranin, synaptophysin, and neurospecific enolase (NSE).

Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the ethmoid sinus
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1994The paranasal sinuses are a rare site for neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC). In contrast to the other regions, NEC of the sinuses has been reported to be recurrent and locally destructive. We report a case of NEC of the ethmoid sinuses. The patient was a 16-year-old Indian boy and was treated with radiation therapy to 6500 rad.
