Angiogenesis in primary and metastatic epithelial ovarian carcinoma

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1997
Our goal was to evaluate angiogenesis in the ovaries and omental metastases as a prognostic indicator in patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma.Ovarian specimens of 42 consecutive patients with primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma (stages I to IV) and omental metastases of 19 of these patients with stage IIIB or stage IIIC disease were stained ...

Expression of Sox2 in human ovarian epithelial carcinoma

Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, 2010
The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of Sox2, a transcription factor, in a series of benign, borderline, and malignant ovarian tumors and to evaluate whether Sox2 expression levels correlate with clinicopathological characteristics in ovarian epithelial carcinoma. This study investigated immunohistochemical expressions of Sox2 in 43 ...

Tamoxifen therapy in recurrent epithelial ovarian carcinoma

Gynecologic Oncology, 1987
Thirty-seven patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian carcinoma were entered into a trial of tamoxifen therapy (10 mg BID) to determine the effect on long-term survival. Thirty-one patients were evaluable with follow-up ranging from 6 to 42 months since initiation of hormonal therapy.

The inherent cellular radiosensitivity of epithelial ovarian carcinoma

Gynecologic Oncology, 1989
Ovarian carcinomas of similar histology have variable responses to radiation therapy. It has been suggested that inherent cellular resistance to radiation may in part underlie radiotherapy failure. To determine in vitro radiobiological parameters of papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the ovary, we investigated the cellular responses of 16 early-passage

Results of conservative treatment in epithelial ovarian carcinoma

Cancer, 2001
The objective of this study was to assess and evaluate the clinical outcome and fertility in patients treated conservatively for epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC).Thirty-one patients treated with conservative management EOC were followed up. Optimal surgical staging was performed in 2 cases during the initial surgery and in 27 patients during a ...

Epidemiology of Epithelial Ovarian Carcinoma

2013
Epithelial ovarian cancer is the fifth to sixth most common cancer in women, causing more annual deaths than any other gynecological malignancies in women worldwide. In the majority of cases, a good prognosis cannot be made at the diagnosis because clinical presentation of the disease occurs at an advanced stage. In the United States, approximately one-

Staging laparotomy in early epithelial ovarian carcinoma

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1986
It is well known that ovarian carcinoma may have subclinically metastasized at the time of the initial surgical operation when all tumor seemed to be confined to the ovary. A retrospective review of 650 ovarian carcinoma patients from 1976 to 1984 revealed 25 staging laparotomies for early epithelial ovarian carcinoma.

Study on tumor angiogenesis in epithelial ovarian carcinoma

Current Medical Science, 2000
To investigate tumor angiogenesis in benign, borderline and malignant epithelial ovarian tumors and its relation with the pathogenesis of ovarian carcinoma, polycolonal antibody directed against human von Willebrand factor (factor VIII) was used to measure the microvessel density (MVD) in 66 cases (11 benign, 10 borderline, and 45 malignant) of ...

Epithelial Ovarian Carcinoma and European Birthplace of Grandparents

Gynecologic Oncology, 2001
The aim of this study was to determine whether the risk of ovarian carcinoma was related to latitude or to genetically based patterns of European geographic origin. We studied the countries of origin of European-born grandparents of 168 newly diagnosed patients in two hospitals in New York City, compared with 159 controls from similar neighborhoods.
