When Small Cells Matter: Diagnosing Bladder Small Cell Carcinoma on Urine Cytology

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
Small cell carcinoma of the bladder is rare, aggressive and diagnostically challenging on urine cytology. We report a case detected in urine and confirmed by cell block immunohistochemistry, highlighting the importance of careful assessment and limitations of the Paris System.

The Impact of Change in Practicing Cytopathologists' Team on Risk of Malignancy in a Retrospective Single‐Centre Project of 652 Thyroid Nodules: A Quality Assurance Project

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This quality assurance project confirms that thyroid FNAC is a reliable tool for assessing the risk of malignancy (ROM), with ROM rates aligning with published data. However, cytology team changes can reveal interobserver variability and shift category distribution and malignancy rates, underlining the need for ongoing quality assurance and training ...

What Are Computer‐Assisted Methods Achieving in Fine‐Needle Aspiration Cytology of the Pancreas? A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This meta‐analysis demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy of computer‐assisted methods in pancreatic EUS‐FNA cytology (AUC 0.92–0.96) and supports an integrated, cytopathologist‐led workflow in which artificial intelligence functions as an adjunct to diagnostic interpretation and on‐site evaluation (ROSE). Neuroimmune alterations and nociceptive behavior in oral carcinogenesis in rats

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Oral cancer pain is a frequent and debilitating symptom associated with tumor progression. Although neuronal mechanisms have been extensively studied, the role of immune and glial cells in the trigeminal nociceptive pathway remains poorly understood.
