Biophysical investigation of the molecular interaction between minichromosome maintenance protein 6 and Bloom syndrome helicase

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This study reveals the interaction between minichromosome maintenance protein 6 (MCM6) and Bloom syndrome helicase (BLM), which is essential for DNA replication and cancer progression. Using fluorescence polarization anisotropy and NMR, we show the MCM6 winged‐helix domain (WHD) binds to the MCM6 binding domain D (MBD‐D) of BLM. MCM6 and BLM expression

The G protein‐coupled receptor GPR89A is a novel potential therapeutic target to overcome cisplatin resistance in NSCLC Calu1 cells

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A genome‐wide CRISPR‐Cas9‐based genetic screen in cisplatin‐resistant NSCLC cells revealed 63 potential candidate genes for overcoming cisplatin resistance, including GPR89A. GPR89A, localised in the Golgi, modulates voltage‐gated anion channel activity and is involved in intracellular pH reduction.

Analysis of benign neoplasms of the rete testis formerly termed “Sertoliform cystadenomas” demonstrates that they are not Sertoli cell tumours with intra‐rete growth

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Benign tumours of the rete testis are uncommon and include mostly cystadenomas and adenomas, including a subset with tubular or tubulopapillary architecture. The latter show morphological similarities with Sertoli cell tumours and were previously termed Sertoliform cystadenomas of the rete testis.

Diagnostic accuracy and clinical outcomes of patients diagnosed with clear cell papillary renal cell tumour at renal mass biopsy

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Clear cell papillary renal cell tumours can be identified on renal mass biopsy if strict morphologic and immunohistochemical criteria are used. We found a high concordance between the biopsy and resection diagnoses of these tumours and that patients treated nonsurgically had favourable clinical outcomes.
