A retrospective review of a consecutive series of 293 patients with epidermoid carcinoma of the hard and soft palate is presented. A majority of the patients had primary tumors larger than 2 cm at the time of initial diagnosis. Surgery was the initial treatment employed in most patients.

Abstract From 1939 through 1960, 422 patients with epidermoid carcinoma of the palate were observed at Memorial Hospital. One hundred twenty-three lesions originated on the hard palate and 299 on the soft palate. Ninety per cent of these patients (381) were treated for cure.

Primary intracranial epidermoid carcinoma

✓ A case is presented of primary intracranial epidermoid carcinoma in the right cerebellopontine angle which was visualized as a homogeneously enhanced mass on computerized tomography. At autopsy the malignant tissue was found to have invaded the brain stem.

A retrospective study was made of 80 cases of epidermoid carcinoma of the palate that were treated at the UCLA Center for the Health Sciences between 1955 and 1977. Tumor size larger than 3 cm, extension to neighboring structures, and contralateral, bilateral, and "fixed" lymph node metastases substantially decreased survival.

Epidermoid carcinoma in cystic teratomas

Abstract Two cases of epidermoid carcinoma in dermoid cysts are reported. One patient operated on in 1945, in which case the cyst was completely removed, was living and well when last checked, six years later. The other patient died only four months following surgery.
