Cytomorphologic Spectrum of Carcinoma ex Pleomorphic Adenoma
Acta Cytologica, 2004To delineate the cytomorphologic features of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CPA) and identify the diagnostic pitfalls.Smears of 14 cases suspected as CPA on fine needle aspiration over a period of 15 years were reviewed. Cytohistologic correlation was done in 10 cases. All cases had a salivary gland mass of 1-16 years' duration, with a rapid increase

Ossifying Parotid Carcinoma Ex Pleomorphic Adenoma
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1991The CT appearance of a large necrotic carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland is described. The tumour contained trabecular bone, which was correctly identified on a preoperative CT examination and which indicated the origin of the tumour to be a benign pleomorphic adenoma.

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland
Acta Radiologica, 2012Background Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA) is a rare aggressive epithelial malignancy arising from a primary or recurrent benign mixed tumor. Only a few case reports describing the radiologic features of CXPA have been published. Purpose To describe and characterize the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings of CXPA in the parotid gland and ...

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma of the upper lip
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2012Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA) is a rare salivary gland malignancy most often reported within the parotid gland. Of the salivary gland tumours that occur within the minor salivary glands at least 50% are reported to be malignant. This proves to be inaccurate when describing salivary gland tumours within the upper lip which are usually benign ...

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma: Diagnostic difficulty and outcome
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2008ObjectiveTo analyze a series of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA) and to assess the diagnostic difficulties.Study DesignThe clinical presentation of 24 CXPAs was compared with 300 pleomorphic adenomas (PAs). Furthermore, pathohistological findings and follow‐up results of CXPAs were evaluated.ResultsEight of 24 (33%) CXPAs versus 41 of 300 (14 ...

Cytological diagnosis of carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma
Journal of Cranio-Maxillary Diseases, 2015Carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma (Ca ex-PA) is uncommon; however, its accurate diagnosis is important, as the prognosis is better than other salivary gland malignancies, when it is within the pleomorphic adenoma. Fine needle aspiration cytology may be used for its diagnosis. Smears of five cases of Ca ex-PA diagnosed on fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and
