Use of cardanol derivatives as plasticizers for PVC
Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, 2016This work is aimed to study the suitability of cardanol derivatives as plasticizers for poly(vinyl chloride), (PVC). The plasticizers are obtained by chemical modification of cardanol, a natural, renewable resource, obtained as a by‐product of the cashew nut shell industry.

Carbon fiber cardanol-epoxy composites
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996Carbon fiber composites based on tetrafunctional epoxy resin N,N,N′,N′-tetraglycidyl-2,2-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane modified with cardanol were investigated. The differential scanning calorimetric technique was used to study the curing reaction of the neat resins. The dielectric properties of the composites were compared.

New aromatic amine based on cardanol giving new biobased epoxy networks with cardanol
European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2014Cardanol, derived from cashew nut shell liquid, was functionalized by thiol‐ene coupling with cysteamine to yield a new biobased aromatic amine. This cardanol amine was compared to the commercial cardanol‐based phenalkamines. These amines were characterized by NMR spectrometry and used as epoxy hardeners.

Polyfunctional compounds from cardanol
Progress in Organic Coatings, 1992Abstract Chemical modification of the alkyl side-chain of cardanol can lead to the formation of polyfimctional compounds. Cardanol was reacted using maleic anhydride as a dienophile under various experimental conditions with products being obtained in up to 70% yield.

Micellization properties of cardanol as a renewable co-surfactant
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2015Hydrogenated cardanol ( HC ) is used as a green additive for commercial surfactants. A percentage as high as 10% of HC does not affect commercial surfactant properties although it significantly increases their sustainability.

Palladium acetate [Pd(OAc) 2 ] and 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)butane (dppb) catalyse cyclocarbonylation of allylic cardanol and cardol derivatives to give regioselectively 7-membered ring lactones in good yields. One of thecompounds prepared exhibits excellent antioxidant properties.
