Improved cardanol derived epoxy coatings

Progress in Organic Coatings, 2016
Abstract Commercial epoxidized cardanol, from cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL), is a biobased reactant with interesting aromatic structure. Cured with two different diamines, isophorone diamine and Jeffamine T403, the synthesized materials exhibit good properties but they do not meet properties of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) epoxy resins ...

Cardanol Based Matrix for Jute Reinforced Pipes

Macromolecular Symposia, 2010
AbstractThe aim of this work is the development of composite pipes using renewable resources. The pipes, manufactured by filament winding technology, were obtained using an epoxy resin crosslinked with a cardanol based novolac as matrix and jute fibres as reinforcement.

Cardanol-Based Supramolecular Gels

2017
With the increasing interest in the development of new materials from bio-renewable resources seen in the last couple of decades, great emphasis has been put in the use of bio-renewable materials as building blocks for the preparation of bio-based polymers and composites. Lately, cardanol, a phenol derived from extracts of cashew nut shells, has gained

Development of cardanol‐bonded cellulose thermoplastics: High productivity achieved by using isocyanate‐modified cardanol

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2013
ABSTRACTA highly efficient process of synthesizing a cardanol‐bonded cellulose thermoplastic has been developed by using isocyanate‐modified cardanol. As recently shown by us, the thermoplastic consisting of cellulose diacetate (CDA) and cardanol extracted from cashew nutshells performed high practical properties such as bending strength, heat ...

Cardanol-Lignin-Based Polyurethanes

Polymer International, 1996
Polyurethane films were prepared from the reaction of cardanol–lignins (CL) with a different cardanol/lignin ratio and toluene diisocyanate. The crosslink density, the glass transition temperature and the mechanical properties of the obtained films were also determined. The increase of cardanol content used in CL improves the flexibility as well as the

Cardanol, a Skin Irritant in Pink Pepper

Planta Medica, 1983
Cardanol 15:1 was isolated and characterized from the fruit of SCHINUS TEREBINTHIFOLIUS R ADDI, commonly known as the spice Pink Pepper. It is present in a content of 0.03 per cent in the fruit from Reunion and of 0.05 per cent in those of Florida. A skin test showed that the substance had a strong skin irritating effect after a relatively long latency

Thermal behaviour of cardanol-based benzoxazines

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2010
A novel benzoxazine monomer (Bz-C) based on agrochemical renewable resource—cardanol (by-product of cashew nut tree, Anacardium occidentale) was synthesized. Bz-C, a liquid monomer, was used as reactive diluent for the solventless synthesis of bisphenol-A benzoxazine monomer (Bz-A).

New biobased epoxy materials from cardanol

European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2013
Commercial epoxidized cardanol, from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), is a biobased epoxide reactant with interesting aromatic structure. Epoxidized cardanol was thoroughly analyzed using 1H and 13C NMR, size exclusion chromatography, and titration in order to determine the structure.
