Inhibitory mechanism of cardanols on tyrosinase

Process Biochemistry, 2016
Abstract Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), extracted from cashew nut shell, is an abundant natural resource. Cardanols were the major phenolic components isolated from CNSL. In this research, we reported on the inhibitory mechanism of cardanols on tyrosinase for the first time. We studied the functions of cardanols and revealed the underlying mechanism

Use of cardanol derivatives as plasticizers for PVC

Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, 2016
This work is aimed to study the suitability of cardanol derivatives as plasticizers for poly(vinyl chloride), (PVC). The plasticizers are obtained by chemical modification of cardanol, a natural, renewable resource, obtained as a by‐product of the cashew nut shell industry.

Analysis of the influence of cardanol content on the properties of phenol-cardanol-formaldehyde novolac resins

Polymer Science Series D, 2014
The influence of cardanol content on the molecular-weight distribution and curing kinetics of phenol-cardanol-formaldehyde novolac oligomers is investigated. It is shown that, depending on the cardanol content, the resulting oligomers can be used as components in glues and sealants of different purposes.

Cardanol-Based Heterocycles: Synthesis and Applications

2017
This chapter provides an overview of the progresses of research activities related with the synthesis of functional heterocyclic systems utilizing mainly cardanol—or structural analogous (i.e., anacardic acid, cardol, methylcardol) deriving from the cashew nut shell liquid—as starting material, a renewable feedstock having significant perspectives in ...

Preparation of surfactant from cardanol

Cardanol obtained from decraboxylated cashew nut shell liquid was used for preparation of sodium cardanol sulfonate surfactant, by sulfonation of cardanol with fuming sulfuric acid at temperature of 10 ℃ for 2 hours and room temperature for 3 hours, and then by neutralization with sodium hydroxide at room temperature for 1 hour.

Petroleum markers derived from cardanol

Novel markers and simple, rapid, and sensitive detection methods of the markers were developed for use in tagging petroleum fuels. The petroleum markers were derived from cardanol and fell into two categories. The first comprised a number of the azo markers synthesized by the coupling reaction of 2-nitrocardanol with aniline and its derivatives.

Condensation reaction using monohydroxymethylated cardanol for cardanol–phenol bisphenol with ultra-low hormone receptor binding affinity

Chemical Communications
A novel bio-based cardanol–phenol bisphenol, analogous to bisphenols A/F, with hormone receptor binding affinity nearly three orders of magnitude lower than that of bisphenol A, was designed, synthesized, and characterized.
