Synthesis of a Novel Amine‐Based Curing Agent for Epoxy Resins Derived From Vanillin

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
The four‐step synthesis of a new bio‐based amine hardener is described starting from vanillin as a bio‐based compound. The hardener ADBA was utilized to cure DGEBA and the resulting Tg,tanδmax was determined via DMA. Compared to other bio‐based curing agents, our curing agent is obtainable in a high yield and leads to a superior Tg of 135°C.

Analysis of Cardanol as a Substitute for Diesel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Managing Value and Supply Chains, 2016
The demand for alternate fuels used in the operation of I.C engine is met with CNSL (Cashew nut shell liquid) a by-product of cashew industry which is considered as an economically suitable for producing biodiesel. Cashew nut shell liquid is obtained from the hard cashew nut shell, cardinal a natural phenol obtained from the pyrolysis of CNSL at ...

Evaluation of the Efficiency of a Biobased Reactive Plasticizer on the Morphology and Properties of Sustainable Flexible Films Based on Poly(Lactic Acid) (PLA) Produced by Blown Film Extrusion

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 34, September 10, 2026.
A comparative investigation of two epoxy additives derived from cardanol (NC513 and NC514s) for production of films based on poly (lactic acid) (PLA), acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC), and poly (butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT) clarified their distinct roles, with NC513 mainly acting as a plasticizer, reducing viscosity and enhancing ductility ...

Eugenol as a Renewable Platform for Polyfunctional Co‐Hardeners for Tunable Epoxy Resins: From Synthesis to Multiscale Functional Characterization

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 8, August 2026.
Partially bio‐based epoxy networks combine diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A with innovative eugenol‐derived amines to create tunable thermosets. By adjusting hardener ratios, the material architecture is precisely controlled. Thermomechanical behavior, together with molecular dynamics revealed by solid‐state 1H NMR, uncover direct links between cross ...
