Further Structure‐Activity Relationship of G Protein‐Gated Inwardly Rectifying Potassium Channels 1/2 Activators: Synthesis and Biological Characterization of In Vitro Tool Compounds

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Work presented here details the design and characterize novel G protein‐gated inwardly rectifying potassium channels (GIRK)1/2 activators. A new 4,4‐difluorocyclohexylpyrazole have been identified that confers improved potency and selectivity for GIRK1/2 versus GIRK1/4.

Understanding Lesion Creation Biophysics and Improved Lesion Assessment during Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation. The Perfect Combination to Achieve Durable Lesions in Atrial Fibrillation Ablation

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent arrhythmia, while pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) has become a cornerstone in its treatment. The creation of durable lesions is crucial for successful and long-lasting PVI, as inconsistent lesions lead to ...

Effects of Dimenhydrinate on Motor Behavior and Vascular Function: Possible Implications for the Field of Sports

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Regarding cardiovascular effects, DMH decreased vascular reactivity to phenylephrine and acetylcholine. We observed that the combination of DPH and 8‐Cl‐T was identified as the responsible for increasing blood pressure and heart rate in the biological model used.

Finding "Good Views" of Electrocardiogram Signals for Inferring Abnormalities in Cardiac Condition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Electrocardiograms (ECGs) are an established technique to screen for abnormal cardiac signals. Recent work has established that it is possible to detect arrhythmia directly from the ECG signal using deep learning algorithms. While a few prior approaches with contrastive learning have been successful, the best way to define a positive sample remains an ...

Infant Death due to Cannabis Ingestion

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A child died in the emergency room of a local hospital a few hours after ingesting a substance the color of cork and the consistency of earth. At home, a modest amount of resinous substance was found. At the hospital, the child exhibited alterations in walking, balance, and consciousness.

Premature Mortality in Patients With Anorexia Nervosa: A Matched Cohort Study of Cause of Death

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the extent to which anorexia nervosa is associated with premature mortality. Method We carried out a matched cohort study of 7332 male and female patients with anorexia nervosa and 73,215 patient controls who were admitted between 1989 and 2023 in hospital centers of Quebec, Canada. We tracked the patients longitudinally
