ABSTRACT Turner syndrome (TS) is frequently complicated by congenital heart disease (CHD). While left‐sided lesions such as bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) and coarctation of the aorta are the most common structural heart lesions in TS, other anomalies, such as aortic arch malformations, hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), persistent left superior vena

Indeterminacy of Spatiotemporal Cardiac Alternans
Cardiac alternans, a beat-to-beat alternation in action potential duration (at the cellular level) or in ECG morphology (at the whole heart level), is a marker of ventricular fibrillation, a fatal heart rhythm that kills hundreds of thousands of people ...

Development of an efficient mice model of cancer‐associated cardiac cachexia
This work establishes a preclinical framework for targeting ubiquitin pathways to mitigate the morbidity of cancer‐related cardiopathy. Our integrated approach delineates a hierarchical progression from subcellular dysfunction to macroscopic cardiac deterioration. These findings mechanistically link tumor‐induced cachexia to cardiac dysfunction through

Coupling of Smoothened to inhibitory G proteins reduces voltage-gated K [PDF]
SMO (Smoothened), the central transducer of Hedgehog signaling, is coupled to heterotrimeric Gi proteins in many cell types, including cardiomyocytes.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) causes volume overload and disrupts Ca2+ homeostasis. The volume overload leads to cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis inferred from histopathological studies. Cardiac hypertrophy was identified by increased myocyte cross‐sectional area, left atrial‐to‐aortic root ratio, and left ventricular internal diameter at end‐diastole ...

Identification of New KCNT1‐Epilepsy Drugs by In Silico, Cell, and Drosophila Modeling
Objective Hyperactive KCNT1 potassium channels, caused by gain‐of‐function mutations, are associated with a range of epilepsy disorders. Patients typically experience drug‐resistant seizures and, in cases with infantile onset, developmental regression can follow.

Abstract Autonomic nerves are crucial in cardiac function and pathology. However, data on the distribution of cholinergic and noradrenergic nerves in normal and pathologic human hearts is lacking. Nonfailing donor hearts were pressure‐perfusion fixed, imaged, and dissected. Left ventricular cardiomyopathy samples were also obtained.
