Indirect mitral annuloplasty in patients with reduced or preserved ejection fraction: A real‐world, single‐centre experience

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims We aim to evaluate the real‐world effectiveness and safety of the Carillon Mitral Contour System (CMCS) for indirect annuloplasty in patients with heart failure (HF) and secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR). Methods and results This was a single‐centre retrospective study of 204 consecutive patients (age 83 ± 6 years, 68% female, 72 ...

Economic burden of heart failure in Europe: A systematic review of costs and cost‐effectiveness

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Heart failure (HF) affects over 64 million individuals worldwide and is a major cause of hospitalization and mortality, particularly among older adults. In Europe, HF imposes a significant and growing economic burden. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the economic impact of HF diagnosis, treatment and management across European ...

Liver stiffness measurement for non‐invasive assessment of central venous pressure in patients with heart failure: A multicentre pilot study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Liver stiffness measurement for central venous pressure assessment. AUC, area under the curve; BMI, body mass index; CI, confidence interval; CVP, central venous pressure; HF, heart failure; LSM, liver stiffness measurement; LVEF, left ventricular ejection fraction. Abstract Aims Central venous pressure (CVP) is an important variable in assessing heart

Prognostic value of NT‐proBNP in patients with primary mitral regurgitation undergoing transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
In the PRIME‐MR study, patients with higher N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) tertiles more frequently reached death or heart failure hospitalization (HFH) within 3 years. Log‐transformed NT‐proBNP levels independently predicted the primary endpoint (adjusted hazard ratio 1.17, 95% confidence interval 1.07–1.28; p < 0.001).
