Micropatterned Biphasic Printed Electrodes for High‐Fidelity on‐Skin Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micropatterned biphasic printed electrodes achieve unprecedented skin conformity and low impedance by combining liquid‐metal droplets with microstructured 3D lattices. This scalable approach enables high‐fidelity detection of ECG, EMG, and EEG signals, including alpha rhythms from the forehead, with long‐term comfort and stability.

Ion channels: structural basis for function and disease. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Ion channels are ubiquitous proteins that mediate nervous and muscular function, rapid transmembrane signaling events, and ionic and fluid balance. The cloning of genes encoding ion channels has led to major strides in understanding the mechanistic basis

Calcium Imparts Advanced Functionalities to Silk Hydrogels for Biofabrication and Biomedical Innovation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The addition of calcium ions to silk fibroin enhances the hydrogel properties and, when combined with visible light crosslinking, enables compatibility with advanced light‐based fabrication techniques. Calcium ions extend the shelf‐life of silk and facilitate the fabrication of multizonal, multilayered constructs for advanced stimuli‐responsive ...

Anatomy of the Cardiac Conduction System in the Rabbit [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1967
Anatomy of the cardiac conduction system was studied in 15 rabbits with serial histologic sectioning of 4. The rabbit's sinus node is a simple and distinct structure located at the junction of the crista terminalis with the sinus intercavarum nearly midway between the two cavae; it contains an unusually large percentage of P cells but is not organized ...

Synergistic Osteogenesis After Co‐Administration of cmRNAs Encoding BMP‐2 and BMP‐7 Utilizing a Transcript‐Activated Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the dual delivery of BMP‐2/‐7 coding cmRNAs for bone healing is demonstrated as feasible, safe, and highly osteogenic. Compared to single BMP‐2 or BMP‐7 cmRNAs, the combination enhances the production of both mineral and organic components of the extracellular matrix when delivered using a collagen‐HA scaffold, supporting ...

Cardiac electrical system involvement in Alström syndrome: uncommon causes of dilated cardiomyopathies

open access: yesCardiogenetics, 2012
Alström syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder with dilated cardiomyopathy in 60% of patients. Despite the frequency of cardiac involvement in Alström syndrome, conduction system abnormalities or arrhythmias have not been characterized
