Assessment of Cardiac Function and Cardiac Output
2014The management of hemodynamically unstable patients requires an assessment of the patient’s preload and fluid responsiveness (see Chap. 9) as well as an assessment of cardiac function. Cardiac function is best assessed by bedside echocardiography coupled with real time monitoring of cardiac output (CO).
