Imaging has become a widely used technique for the evaluation of cardiac disease. Computer technology and techniques have had an enormous impact on many of the available cardiac imaging methods. These methods include echocardiography, digital angiography, radionuclide imaging, X-ray computed tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging.

Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Pattern and degree of left ventricular remodeling following a tailored surgical approach for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. [PDF]
Background The role of a tailored surgical approach for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) on regional ventricular remodelling remains unknown. The aims of this study were to evaluate the pattern, extent and functional impact of regional ventricular ...

Risks of cardiac imaging [PDF]
With regard to the research article by Eisenberg and colleagues,[1][1] the authors only briefly note that the radiation-associated increase in cancer risk is higher than for atomic bomb survivors in the Life Span Study (LSS).[2][2] In the LSS, the excess relative risk per sievert (Sv) for the ...

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Cardiovascular Risk Factors from Another Point of View
Cardiovascular diseases remain the main cause of death in western societies. This contributes to the appearance of new diagnostic and treatment methods addressed to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases.

Treating a 20 mm Hg Gradient Alleviates Myocardial Hypertrophy in Experimental Aortic Coarctation [PDF]
Background Children with coarctation of the aorta (CoA) can have a hyperdynamic and remodeled left ventricle (LV) from increased afterload. Literature from an experimental model suggests the putative 20 mm Hg blood pressure gradient (BPG) treatment ...

Dipyridamole cardiac imaging is a useful alternative technique to exercise stress testing in the evaluation of patients with ischemic heart disease. Intravenous dipyridamole is still in the investigational phase, while oral dipyridamole is widely available.
