Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

Cardiac lipoma diagnosed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging [PDF]
A 62-year-old man experienced a transient ischaemic attack. He underwent a transthoracic echocardiogram to rule out the presence of embolic source. It showed a 10 mm mass with broad attachment to the left side of the interventricular septum. Diagnosis of cardiac myxoma, sessile thrombus, and localized hypertrophic cardiomyopathy were considered. He was

Assessment of the relationships between myocardial contractility and infarct tissue revealed by serial magnetic resonance imaging in patients with acute myocardial infarction [PDF]
Imaging changes in left ventricular (LV) volumes during the cardiac cycle and LV ejection fraction do not provide information on regional contractility.

This study introduces VIVID (Vesicle In Vivo Identification using DNA), a qPCR‐based platform that tracks PCR‐amplifiable DNA tags loaded in the EVs for accurate and quantifiable EV biodistribution in vivo. ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) represent promising carriers for nucleic acid therapeutics, offering advantages over synthetic nanoparticles ...

Infarct size and left ventricular remodelling after preventive percutaneous coronary intervention [PDF]
Objective: We hypothesised that, compared with culprit-only primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), additional preventive PCI in selected patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction with multivessel disease would not be associated with ...

Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

Technetium-99m pyrophosphate cardiac SPECT in endomyocardial biopsy negative cardiac amyloidosis
Cardiac amyloidosis is an under-appreciated cause of heart failure. Establishing a diagnosis is important because traditional heart failure treatment regimens can worsen left ventricular failure in this disease. Endomyocardial biopsy is the gold standard
