Left Ventricle Segmentation in Cardiac MR Images Using Fully Convolutional Network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Medical image analysis, especially segmenting a specific organ, has an important role in developing clinical decision support systems. In cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, segmenting the left and right ventricles helps physicians diagnose different heart abnormalities.

Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Measuring Cardiac Output in the Critically Ill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
__Abstract__ Haemodynamic monitoring plays an essential part on the care of the critically ill patient. Monitoring has two goals; the first goal is a signalling function if the patients clinical condition improves or deteriorates adequate measures can

Evaluation of noninvasive cardiac output methods during exercise [PDF]

open access: yes
Noninvasive techniques to estimate cardiac output (Qc) will be used during future space flight. This retrospective literature survey compared the Qc techniques of carbon dioxide rebreathing (CO2-R), CO2 single breath (CO2-S), Doppler (DOP), impedance (IM)

Development of Photo‐Biocatalytic Redox System for Asymmetric Synthesis of Optically Active Amines Using Blue Light and Transaminases. A Case Study Toward Mavacamten

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Abstract α‐Chiral amines are versatile building blocks for the asymmetric synthesis of optically pure high‐added‐value chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. Herein, we report a one‐pot, two‐step sequential deracemization of racemic sec‐alcohols to optically enriched primary amines throught a photo‐biocatalytic ...

Deep Separable Spatiotemporal Learning for Fast Dynamic Cardiac MRI [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays an indispensable role in cardiac diagnosis. To enable fast imaging, the k-space data can be undersampled but the image reconstruction poses a great challenge of high-dimensional processing. This challenge necessitates extensive training data in deep learning reconstruction methods. In this work, we propose
