Flecainide Toxicity Leading to Loss of Pacemaker Capture and Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2021
An 86-year-old man with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation on flecainide, a class IC antiarrhythmic, presented with cardiac arrest. The patient had extremely wide QRS complexes with inconsistent pacemaker capture on electrocardiography.

Self-Synchronizing Cardiac Pacemaker

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1966
A new kind of cardiac pacemaker for direct heart stimulation in cases of intermittent or variable heart block is presented. The pacemaker is capable of providing stimuli either synchronously with ventricular depolarization or at a fixed rate when natural pacing fails.

‘Twiddling’ of the pacemaker resulting in lead dislodgement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Twiddler’s syndrome is a rare condition in which patient manipulation of the pulse generator within its pocket may result in coiling of the lead and lead dislodgement, thereby causing pacemaker malfunction.

Novel Transthoracic Pulmonary Valve Implantation Using Self‐Expanding Salus Valve: A Prospective Study of Safety and Mid‐Term Outcomes

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) has emerged as a valuable treatment for severe pulmonary regurgitation (PR). The Salus valve (Balance Medical Technology Co. Ltd., Beijing, China) represents a novel self‐expanding valve stent designed for deployment through a transthoracic approach with a small subxiphoid incision ...

Soft, stretchable, wireless intelligent three‐lead electrocardiograph monitors with feedback functions for warning of potential heart attack

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 668-684, December 2022., 2022
In this manuscript, we developed a stretchable, three‐lead electrocardiography (ECG) device based on self‐developed organohydrogel patches with strong adhesion and high conductivity for continuously monitoring human ECG signals. A safety warning system based on a mechanical vibration actuator is built up inside the ECG device as an indicator of the ...

The International TrifectaTM and EpicTM Valve‐in‐Valve Registry: Insights Into Clinical & Hemodynamic Outcomes

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Little is known about the clinical and hemodynamic outcome of valve‐in‐valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement (ViV‐TAVR) for failed Trifecta surgical aortic bioprotheses. Aims We aimed to compare outcomes of valve‐in‐valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement (ViV‐TAVR into failed TrifectaTM vs.
