Safety of bioelectrical impedance analysis in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices: A systematic review

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Bioelectrical impedance analysis is widely used in clinical settings to assess body composition, contributes to the management of various health conditions. However, for patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices, such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter‐defibrillators, concerns about electromagnetic interference ...

Computer modelling for better diagnosis and therapy of patients by cardiac resynchronisation therapy

open access: yes, 2015
Mathematical or computer models have become increasingly popular in biomedical science. Although they are a simplification of reality, computer models are able to link a multitude of processes to each other.

Safety and Utility of Smartphone‐Based Heart Monitors in Pediatric Patients With Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Smartphone heart monitors in pediatric CIEDs: A pilot study. Smartphone heart monitors did not induce EMI in children with CIEDs, enabling reliable heart rate measurement and accurate identification of ventricular non‐captures. ABSTRACT Background Portable heart monitors enable on‐demand electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings and enhance symptom‐rhythm ...

First United States Experience With Focal Pulsed‐Field Ablation Using the FARAPOINT Catheter for Refractory Ventricular Tachycardia

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Drug‐refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT) after failed radiofrequency (RF) ablation remains a clinical challenge. Pulsed‐field ablation (PFA) is expanding to ventricular applications, but United States experience with focal pulsed‐field‐only catheters in VT is sparse, and pulsed‐field platforms are not equivalent across ...

Cardiac resynchronisation therapy

open access: yes, 2006
Summary Aim: Cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) has been shown to improve haemodynamics and clinical symptoms in heart failure patients. The present study evaluated the effects of a 4-month CRT on myocardial blood flow (MBF) at rest, after

Consensus‐Recommended Follow‐Up Mediates Cardiovascular Outcomes Disparities Between Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator and Pacemaker Recipients

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Consensus‐recommended follow‐up after cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation improves outcomes, yet whether it mediates cardiovascular disparities between device types remains unknown. Methods We prospectively studied 6806 patients undergoing CIED implantation across a multi‐hospital system (2019–2023; median ...

Temporal Association Between Intrathoracic Impedance and Tachyarrhythmia Occurrence

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
A decrease in intrathoracic impedance is temporally associated with subsequent AF occurrence and, at the episode level, with a shorter time to VT. These findings suggest that daily intrathoracic impedance may provide information on short‐term changes preceding tachyarrhythmia occurrence.

Original articleQuality of life in patients undergoing cardiac resynchronisation therapy

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) is often recommended for the treatment of patients with severe heart failure and cardiac dyssynchrony. The procedure efficacy should be evaluated not only by objective criteria and clinical end points,
